Meet Patricia

Patricia Cabrera, RDH, is proud to work in a profession that combines her love of healthcare with her passion for helping people. As a caring and enthusiastic bilingual hygienist from Elgin, she has dedicated her career to gentle, thorough and compassionate care.

Her Start in Dentistry

Patricia began working in the dental field in 2012 as a dental assistant. Those years taught her how a dental office runs: assisting with procedures, preparing treatment rooms and, most of all, supporting patients during their appointments. Seeing the confidence patients gained after treatment, and the trust they placed in their providers, inspired her to keep growing and become a dental hygienist.

Education

Patricia completed her prerequisites at Elgin Community College, building a strong foundation in the health sciences, and then earned her dental hygiene degree at Rock Valley College. The program covered preventive care, oral pathology, radiography and patient education, and gave her the skills and confidence to deliver care that puts comfort, safety and trust first. Graduating as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) was a proud milestone that let her combine science, skill and compassion to make a difference in her community.

Caring in Two Languages

Patricia is fluent in English and Spanish. Being bilingual lets her connect with Spanish-speaking patients who may feel hesitant about visiting the dentist because of a language barrier. Patients need to understand their treatment plans, home-care instructions and prevention strategies, and explaining them in Spanish helps everyone feel heard, understood and fully informed.

Her Approach to Patient Care

For Patricia, being a hygienist is about much more than cleaning teeth. It’s about a positive experience for everyone who sits in her chair. Many people feel nervous at the dentist, so she makes her care gentle, reassuring and supportive. She listens to concerns, answers questions and teaches the small daily habits that make a big difference, personalizing her care for children, adults and seniors alike.

Family and Life Outside the Office

Family is at the heart of everything Patricia does. Her loved ones are a constant source of motivation, and she treasures simple moments with them: shared meals, time outdoors and celebrating special occasions. That closeness carries into the way she treats patients, like extended family who deserve compassion, respect and care.

Looking Ahead

Patricia is committed to ongoing learning so she can keep up with new techniques, technology and research. She looks forward to continuing to serve the Elgin community as a bilingual hygienist, helping patients from every walk of life with their cleanings, gum health and sealants.
